The Decay of Gaia

2017

As the sea level rises, the land contracts and the earth enters a new climate norm.  The future is uncertain.  This piece explores the earth as broken, polluted, and changing.

The saturated colors and shifting geography in the work represent coastal erosion and pollution.  Roads and other human structures overlap bodies of water.  The result of this culmination is a sickening cacophony of shrunken land and toxins.  Painted topography is outlined by clear acrylic, representing coastal lines that will soon change.  This work provides glimpses of the future as the earth bends to the destruction we’ve set in motion.
