Artist Statement

In this series, concepts of city development, communication, and abstracted, otherworldly landscapes are explored. For example, in Urban Nebula a web-like cityscape inside of a hostile territory looks more like a growing organism than groups of stationary buildings.  These buildings become a web of communication that snakes through the landscape. Patterns and symbols from existing maps are referenced and incorporate into the work. Further inspiration is drawn from aerial views of landforms and human elements such as cities. This can also be seen in the green-blue pools and city-like shapes that spring from them in Electric Tide.
